NGO formation Small group interaction

I wanted to share with you that after the very satisfying Seminar+meet in the Press club on 13th, Sunday, 6 of us met at Mulund and walked-through the procedures which had been compiled from the internet about the formation of an NGO.

We have(the 6 members) divided some home-work, w.r.t the NGO procedures among ourselves, so that we can have a very focused discussion when we all meet on Sunday, to have consensus on:
1)What should be the name(important, since the applications for any NGO start with some proposed names, out of which we will be allotted an available name) 2) What should be the Mission and long-term vision of our NGO(apart from our main thrust of rationalizing unjust laws like 498a(or against any law which has gender bias built into it, since tomorrow 498a could be called come other name, example domestic violence law will be a much more bigger threat to husbands and families when it finally gets implemented(which is not so ahead in future , as seen from the scorching pace with which its getting “readied”!), etc., where gender-bias and corruption in execution(police and judicial) is rife. 3) to identify the volunteers who are willing for active participation & to assume formal office bearing responsibilities(like director, committee members, ordinary members or whatever posts/roles we come up as a consensus(note that the designations in an NGO could be just like those in any limited liability company, since an NGO is essentially a limited liability company, which just doesn’t have to use the term “ltd.” at the end of its name, moreover, it is governed by the same companies act(1956) like any other ltd. company, to put it briefly).

Once we decide/have consensus on the above 3, we can further decide what all cells we can form among the willing volunteers, according to their individual tastes/interests/skill-sets (like for example: a cell for promotion(making presentation material in software, physical media street plays, rallies, news conferences, panel discussion involving judges to start interfacing with judges and police officials)).

These cells would be so designed, so that we fulfill our multi-dimensional strategy of 1)Judicial Campaigns 2) Media Campaigns and 3) Political Campaigns, etc., to bring about the lobbying power with which we would finally be able to amend or rationalise these draconic laws.

Do send your thoughts and suggestions and make sure that you all turn up for the meeting on Sunday 20th August at 3 P.M, tentatively at “Galleria” Shopping mall(center space of galleria), Hiranandhani , Powai(Near Kanjur Marg Railway Station:3-4 km away).

I would take this opportunity to urge other city members also to start NGOs in Different names, since only if we are represented by a lot of NGOs against the misuse of laws and hence against Family and Legal terrorists, we would be able to lobby and make any impact which can get an amendment in laws like 498a. This is in line with our multi-dimensional strategy too(don't think that too many NGOs are not desirable or needed- its very much needed and all of the NGOs must be in different names, but attached to the umbrella group of SIF, so that this ensures a fault tolerant system, which is both person & location independent)

PS: I have the CD of the video footage of the meeting held on 13th, but need some more editing, so will be ready in a couple of days more. Gorky is sending us a sample Memorandum and Articles of association , so that we can refer the same while preparing the ones for the Mumbai-NGO.
